This is a snappy, humorous performance featuring traditional and original songs, dances and stories from a variety of Celtic nations including Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Galicia and the Isle Of Man. Instruments featured include the harp, the uilleann (Irish) pipes, fiddle, flute and guitar. Music is augmented using computerised 'MIDI' backings. After discussing where the Celts came from (using a giant globe), we look at how many students are descended from the Celtic people. Following the well known 'Irish Music' song from the Kiwi Kids Song Book series, we take a humorous look at the 'Bodhran' drum with a rap. The Highland clearances and the Irish famine are discussed and a Breton dance is taught. A song about Scottish culture (kilts and tartan included) follows tunes from Wales, the Isle Of Man and Galicia. The programme finishes with an Irish dance.Students participate through singing and rhythm games and some students participate with dancing. The programme may be varied to suit the age group of students present.
