Based in Nelson, New Zealand, Bob Bickerton is well known for his entertaining performances of traditional Irish Music.
Specialising in Celtic music, Bob Bickerton has performed at most major concert venues and folk festivals around New Zealand in the past 20 years. A multi-instrumentalist, typical performances include vocals, guitar, flute, uilleann (Irish) pipes, whistle, harp and mandola.
Performance Repertoire includes traditional and contemporary songs from Ireland and Scotland, foot tapping dance tunes and plaintive airs, self penned songs and tunes, all presented in a warm and humorous way.

He has been a guest at the Taranaki Arts Festival, the Wanganui Arts Festival, the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival, the New Zealand Chamber Music Festival and has performed with orchestras, choirs, contemporary and ethnic groups. As a duo he performs with Evey McAuliffe, a founding member of the popular Irish women's Group 'Cairde', who adds songs in Irish and Scots Gaelic as well as the traditional Irish drum, the Bodhrán, plus they are now joined by their daughter Ceara who plays whistle and flute and also dances.

Photo His debut CD Music In The Glen was a finalist in the 1996 Music and Entertainment Awards. His second album Island Mist recieved crital acclaim in the media and he released his third album The Likes Of Us in November 2006.
In addition, he has recorded as a session musician for several albums as well as radio and television including music for the Television One documentary 'The Promise' which has since been made available for general release on video. Albums he has featured on have been released in the United States, Europe and Russia.
He was a founder member of the popular Irish group 'Gael Force' which has performed regularly over the last 10 years in concerts and festivals around the country and is currently a member of the exciting six piece Irish band 'Bana Nua'.
His Flying Feet duo, which uses high-tech computer accompaniments, is kept busy in the Nelson region playing for barn dances and fundraising events and has appeared on television.
In the last twelve years he has he has presented over 2500 performances to over 250,000 students in schools from the Auckland to Invercargill.
As a performing arts manager, he has 20 years industry experience, including 3 years full time as General Manager of the Dunedin Sinfonia and 7 years as Director/General Manager of the Nelson School Of Music.
He was founder and director of the School Of Celtic Music and the founding convener of the New Zealand Uilleann Pipers Association. He is also a founder and current chairman of the Celtic Flute School Of New Zealand which runs the popular Ceol Aneas workshops in Nelson each June. He has given workshops and classes in Irish music and has studied uilleann pipes, fiddle and flute in Ireland.
In addition to performing, he promotes concerts in Nelson, runs a state of the art digital recording studio and has a sound reinforcement service. A full media pack and CD is available on request. Promotional support includes full-colour A3 posters.
