Westpac Red Square
Introduction
Red Square provides exciting performance opportunities for your school in the Nelson Arts Festival in October 2010.
Sponsored by Westpac, Red Square consists of a high profile covered stage constructed at the top of Trafalgar Street for the duration of the festival.
School performances run between 11am and 2pm each weekday from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd October 2010. Not only is Red square a high profile performance opportunity for your school, the provision of professional stage management and sound systems by Bob Bickerton and Brendyn Montgomery will create a supportive environment where students can experience the excitement of public performance in a positive way.
There are no fees to participate in the Red Square venue, but schools will need to make their own travel arrangements.

How To Get Involved
Firstly we’d like to know if your school is interested in participating in Red Square. Simply let us know by filling out the online form here:
The purpose of this form is to provide us with contact details so that we can work with you to explore performance options.
We will contact you during term two to talk options and negotiate a suitable time and date, as well as discuss any questions you may have about the festival, the stage or any other technical issues.
We intend to finalise the programme by the end of term 2 so that all performances can be promoted in Arts Festival publicity.
During term 3 we will contact you to finalise staging and technical requirements.
Performance Type and Duration
A broad range of group performance genres can be accommodated including choirs, kapahaka, ukulele, bands, concert bands, orchestras and dance groups.
Duration will be dependent on the group’s age and experience and will be negotiated. Generally primary school groups perform for around 20 minutes, where established secondary school groups may perform for 40 minutes.
